Mes de la bicicleta
WHEREAS, for more than a century, the bicycle has been an important part of the lives of many Americans, and today, residents of all ages throughout our great Commonwealth engage in bicycling for transportation, recreation, fitness, and fun; and
WHEREAS, bicycling is an efficient form of transportation and offers independent mobility for many Virginians traveling between work, school, and home, and the use of bicycles for transportation benefits all residents of Virginia as it eases traffic congestion and produces no air pollution; and
CONSIDERANDO QUE, el ciclismo se reconoce como una actividad que puede reducir la aparición de enfermedades crónicas y reducir la obesidad infantil, y la consideración del ciclismo en la planificación pública, como en programas como Rutas Seguras a la Escuela, ayudará a crear comunidades más saludables y activas en Virginia; y

WHEREAS, an exceptional way to experience the Commonwealth’s captivating beauty and rich history is by riding along one of its scenic Rails-to-Trails biking paths, such as the Virginia Creeper Trail, the Tobacco Heritage Trail, or the Washington & Old Dominion Rail Trail, among others; and
MIENTRAS QUE El Mes de la Bicicleta brinda la oportunidad de aumentar la conciencia pública sobre los muchos beneficios de andar en bicicleta, promover la seguridad de los ciclistas y fomentar el ciclismo a través de actividades organizadas como eventos de Bike-to-Work, paseos en clubes, paseos familiares y rodeos de bicicletas para niños;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize May 2025, as BIKE MONTH in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all of our citizens.
