75th Anniversary of the Bernard L. Hines DAV, Chapter 21
WHEREAS, the Bernard L. Hines Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Chapter 21, located in Norfolk, Virginia, was chartered on April 12, 1950; and
WHEREAS, the Bernard L. Hines DAV is dedicated to empowering veterans to lead high-quality lives with respect and dignity; and
WHEREAS, the DAV accomplishes this mission by ensuring veterans and their families have access to the full range of benefits available to them, advocating for the interests of injured heroes on Capitol Hill, and educating the public about the sacrifices and needs of veterans transitioning to civilian life; and
WHEREAS, the DAV is committed to providing free, professional assistance to veterans and their families in obtaining benefits and services earned through military service and provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and other government agencies; and
WHEREAS, the DAV actively engages in outreach to inform the public, particularly disabled veterans and their families, about available services and resources; and
WHEREAS, the DAV represents the interests of disabled veterans, their families, widowed spouses, and orphans before Congress, the White House, the Judicial Branch, and state and local governments; and
WHEREAS, the DAV extends its mission of hope into the communities where veterans and their families reside through a network of state-level Departments and local Chapters; and
WHEREAS, the DAV provides a platform for disabled veterans to express their compassion for fellow veterans through various volunteer programs; and
WHEREAS, the DAV reaffirms its commitment to empowering veterans and their families and expresses its continued support for the mission of ensuring veterans can lead lives of dignity, respect, and fulfillment;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize April 12, 2025, as the 75TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BERNARD L. HINES, DAV CHAPTER 21, in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all of our citizens.
